All you need to know before you schedule a lesson
-
Do I need to bring an instrument? If you don't have one I can lend you a guitar for your first lesson, but you'll ultimately want to have your own at home in order to practice. I'm happy to offer some buying advice if that's something you feel would be useful. Given the nature of the instrument I generally think it's more hygienic not to share harmonicas, so you'll need to make sure you have one before we start. It's usually best to begin with a C.
-
Can you give me a discount?I can! If you book and pay for five lessons in advance you get the sixth one for free.
-
How long are your lessons? You can book lessons with me in either 30 minute, or hour-long slots, depending on what you feel your needs are.
-
How do I pay you?You can pay me through bank transfer, Paypal, or by card or cash.
-
Where do you teach?I can either teach you in a dedicated teaching room at my home in Stafford, or I can come to you. If you aren't within easy travel distance of Stafford, I can also do lessons online.
-
Is there parking? If you are coming to me there is street parking available outside, although there is sometimes competition for spaces, particularly around school pickup time. If you do get stuck there is a large retail park nearby where you can park for up to 2 hours.
-
What is your cancellation policy? As long as I'm given advanced warning then your payment will just transfer over to the next session. Unfortunately if you book a lesson and don't attend without sending notice, payment will still be due.
-
I've booked a regular weekly slot, but I'm going to be on holiday do I still need to pay?As long as you warn me in advance then any block payments you've made will just carry over until you return.
-
Are you DBS checked?I am - I have an Enhanced DBS certificate and I subscribe to the DBS update service so you can check on their website to make sure it still applies, just ask me for details when booking your lesson.
-
Have you got experience dealing with neurodivergent people?Although I do not have any qualifications in teaching those with additional needs, I have delivered work in special schools and worked with autistic adults. Every student is different, so the best thing is usually to have a chat with me about what your/your child's needs are - as long as I know about them I can make the necessary adjustments to give them a positive learning experience.
-
Can I stay with my child?Unfortunately, as my teaching room is in my house I do not have a designated waiting area, if your child is particularly young or very anxious then you may be able to sit-in on our lesson, although usually most students are happiest and most open to learning without other adults in the room.
-
I work late can still you still teach me?My designated late night session is on a Monday when I book lessons until 9pm, but please drop me a line about when you are available and I will do my best to accommodate you.
